China Blue

“China Blue” is the sole original composition on my 2017 Jazz Trio album, “Just for the Love.” The recording below features Sam Trapchak on Bass and Noel Sagerman on Drums.  Its a hard-bop swing tune at a medium tempo. The first chord is an  A minor tonality that defies chord symbol categorization. It definitely owes some influence to Wayne Shorter and perhaps the Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers era of his writing. The end of the bridge features rhythmic hits that lock in with a descending harmonic and melodic motif.
