I’m excited to record this song in an upcoming project. The recording below is simply a demo of my rhythm guitar accompanying the MIDI piano playback in the notation program!
There are a few influences in this song. The intro has some influence of artists like Mike Moreno whom I would hear around NYC, however the body of the tune borrows from many of Jobim’s ideas. The last section of the song reminds me of the standard “The End of a Love Affair.” I felt like the mood of that timeless standard had something in common with my song. Both have a carefree, yet bittersweet, melody and the persistent downward motion in the harmony.
PS: I choose the photo of Billie Holiday because of her transcendent version of “End of a Love Affair.”
